Whispered
Epic melodic death and power metal from Tampere fused with traditional Japanese instrumentation, Kabuki theatrics, and Far Eastern mythology.
Founded in 2004 in Tampere, Finland around vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter Jouni Valjakka, Whispered has carved out a truly singular niche in heavy music with their signature “Samurai Metal”. The band fuses the intensity and speed of Nordic melodic death and power metal with sweeping symphonic orchestration and traditional Japanese instruments including shamisen, shakuhachi, and koto.
Steeped in Japanese folklore, the code of Bushidō, and Far Eastern ghost stories, Whispered first bridged Finnish melancholy and Eastern epicness on their debut full-length album “Thousand Swords” (2010). With their critically acclaimed follow-up records “Shogunate Macabre” (2014) and “Metsutan – Songs of the Void” (2016), the band perfected a cinematic wall of sound combining razor-sharp riffs, blistering guitar solos, and monumental choirs.
Following a decade-long studio hiatus, the Finnish samurai warriors made a triumphant return on September 11, 2026 with their long-awaited fourth full-length album, “Honorbound”. Armed with brand-new material, Whispered turns every performance into an unforgettable spectacle of martial energy and dramatic atmosphere.
